
On November 13, 2024, the Shenzhen Yantian District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ireland China Science and Technology Association (referred to as “ICASTA”). The agreement outlines comprehensive cooperation in areas such as information sharing, international training, investment promotion, and scientific exchange, aiming to boost economic and trade collaboration, and help enterprises and products from both regions enter each other’s markets. The signing ceremony was attended by Qiao Hongbin, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yantian District People’s Congress, and Jian Zheng, Vice Mayor of Yantian District.
The cooperation will establish communication channels to share information and experiences between the two regions’ relevant departments, industry associations, and businesses. This will include international training, investment negotiations, business inspections, and scientific exchanges. Both parties are committed to creating a favorable business environment for enterprises and encouraging two-way investments, as well as assisting businesses in finding partners and expanding into each other’s markets.
During the meeting, Jian Zheng warmly welcomed the ICASTA and Irish business representatives, highlighting the potential for cooperation between the regions in various fields. He emphasized that both regions offer world-class business environments, vibrant markets, and an open, inclusive culture, providing vast opportunities for mutual cooperation and win-win development.
ICASTA President Chen Wen remarked that there are significant cooperation opportunities between Ireland and Yantian District in fields like biopharmaceuticals, financial services, and new energy. He expressed that the strategic agreement marks a solid step forward in economic cooperation and that ICASTA would continue to play a bridging role, fostering deepening cooperation in innovation, talent development, and market expansion.
ICASTA, founded in 2017, is a non-profit international organization and one of Ireland’s most prominent international exchange associations. It has been dedicated to fostering cooperation between China and Europe in various sectors, including science, technology, education, culture, and trade.
During the visit, the Irish business representatives introduced their companies’ business areas, technological advantages, and market strategies, expressing strong interest in the Chinese market. They discussed opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefits in trade, technology, and culture.
The delegation also visited several Yantian enterprises, including BGI Genomics, Leiming Technology, Anke Xun Industrial, and Yantian International Container Terminal, where they observed production lines and learned about core products and achievements. They praised the innovative capabilities and growth potential of Yantian enterprises, expressing interest in future collaborations.
This visit has deepened mutual understanding and trust, paving the way for further scientific and economic cooperation between the two regions.
